Finding a datasheet in the Forestry Compendium

Use this search to find information on a particular tree, pest, bamboo and rattan species, or country. Guidelines for searching are given on the lower part of the search page.

  1. Type a name or part of a name in the Search for box. You can use common names or scientific names. You can also search for country datasheets.
  2. Select an item from the Select type options. For example, selecting the Bamboo and Rattan option will limit the search to the Bamboo and Rattan names only. See here to examine what types of datasheet there are.
  3. Select how you want the search to use your criteria. Begins with will find all names beginning with your criteria; Ends with will search for all names ending with your criteria; Contains will search for all names containing your criteria; Exact match will search for names that exactly match your criteria.
  4. Specify how many records per page you want to display in the results.
  5. Indicate if you want to display thumbnail pictures in the results.
  6. Finally, use the Search button to do the search.

The datasheet search results screen contains a list of matches to your search. The coloured dot to the left of the name is an indicator of how much information is contained within the datasheet. Full datasheets are indicated by a red dot. There are also Outline datasheets, indicated by a blue dot and Basic datasheets, indicated by a black ring. The datasheet name is given in the central column. The preferred (or scientific) name is given in brackets, and results are sorted by preferred name.

Datasheets are selected by clicking on the datasheet name.

Datasheets contain various kinds of information, depending on their type.

The Find a datasheet search and search results screens have the standard Menu bar options.
