Statistics

FAOSTAT data, and USDA-FAS PSD can be visualized via the main menu or through the Statistics menu option on the Menu bar. Statistics are presented as tables, and can be plotted as bar charts.

FAOSTAT Statistics

Crop production statistics and other economic FAOSTAT data from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) are presented. Data are linked to a graphical interface, allowing the user to specify and generate visual presentations.

Statistical data are displayed on Country and Crop datasheets, and are also accessible directly from the main menu and top menu bar.

To view the data, select Statistics from the main menu or top menu bar. Then select from the following FAO Data options and click on Display the selected statistics :

Data are presented in a tabular form in a separate window. To show data on, for example, the area harvested, production, seed and yield of soybeans in the USA, select USA from the country list, and all the available years to plot (shift and mouse click to make multiple selections). Select Refresh Grid. Similarly select all the production values. Tick the box to the left of the displayed data, then plot selected . A chart will be displayed of the production of soybeans in the USA over several years. To change years or other parameters choose from the pick list options at the top of the statistics screen, refresh the grid and re-plot. For some datasets (those containing comparable data for different categories), you can plot the top ten items for a particular country.

USDA-FAS PSD

Production and supply data are available from the United States Department of Agriculture Food and Agriculture Service (USDA-FAS-PSD). This can be plotted in the same way as FAOSTAT data. Choose Statistics from the top menu bar or the Statistics menu item on the top menu bar, followed by FAS-PSD Commodity Data options.

FAO Stats and FAS Stats are also separate menu items on the Country datasheet menu bar
