Issues and System Datasheets
Issues and System Datasheets are available in detail for approximately 120 topics. Many more titles are presented to act as information nodes to aid navigation (as 'stepping stones' to browsing other entries) and provide linkages to documents in the library on related themes. Linkages to the library occur from datasheets via the Related Library Documents item on the Information menu; reciprocal linkages to the datasheets are also made from the library nodes in the tree - for further information see the entry on the Library.
Softlinking is available from datasheets.
Issues and System datasheets may be returned from a Find-A-Datasheet search or Compendium Search, or browsed to via the Library tree.
Issues
Issue datasheets may contain a commissioned Key Topic Text on a particular issue in aquaculture. Where a topic text exists the issues datasheet cover page consists of text (with links to [more...]), links to Library topics on the issue and a cover picture.
Further elements of the datasheet are accessible from the main Menu Bar, the composition of which will change to reflect the contents of the datasheet.
The menu choices are:
Information
The Information dropdown menu contains textual information and tables, giving more information about the issue. Click on an item on the list to see more. This information will appear on the screen, replacing the cover page. To return to the cover page, select that option from the Information menu. The categories used in the Information menu come from a defined list:
The reference list contains entries from the Bibliography, and where possible each reference is linked to a CAB ABSTRACT.
Further information about many production-related issues is found in the Library.
Growout Systems
These datasheets contain generic information about the main types of production system, and concentrate on aspects related to growout management. Seed production is covered as issues topics and in sections under the relevant cultured species datasheet. For more information about how particular species are raised go to the Cultured species datasheets. The generic navigational features of these are the same as for other datasheets, but the content of the cover page and Information menu differs:
Ecosystems
These datasheets contain generic information about the main ecosystems and agroecosystems in which growout production systems occur. General discussions of systems-based approaches to aquaculture and aquatic resource management are covered as issues topics and in the Library. For more information about how particular species are raised go to the Cultured species datasheets. The generic navigational features of these are the same as for other datasheets, but the content of the cover page and Information menu differs:
Pictures for Issues and System datasheets may be accessed from clicking the cover page picture, or by selecting Pictures from the menu bar. For more information on Pictures, see Exploring a datasheet.
The Notepad function is available from datasheets. This allows you to record your own issue-specific notes, as well as more general notes.
To generate a report in HTML from a datasheet, open the Report menu and select Generate Report. This allows you to build a report containing the sections you want. For more information, see the separate section on Reports.
