Datasheet types
When using the Find-A-Datasheet function, it is possible to discriminate between the types of datasheets that are searched.
All: choose this option to search through all the datasheets. The main datasheet types are:
Cultured species: this category includes information on cultured aquatic species, including finfish, crustacea, molluscs, algae and live feeds. Each datasheet covers taxonomy, life cycle, reproduction, nutrition and feeding, environmental requirements, health, genetics, behaviour, native and cultured distribution, and much more. For more information on aquaculture production and health check the extensive collection of documents in the Library.
Disease: choose this to search for infectious diseases and non-infectious disorders; note that many diseases are listed by the name of the infectious agent, e.g. Aeromonas hydrophila infections, as well as other names.
Pathogen: choose this to search for infectious agents (bacteria, protozoa, viruses). Note that related information will be included in the corresponding disease datasheet, as described above. Pathogen datasheets may include text on Pathogen Characteristics, accessible from the Information drop-down menu, Pictures of organisms (including electron micrographs), and limited distribution data. Check any associated disease datasheets for more comprehensive distribution information. Use the link on the cover page to move between pathogen and disease datasheets.
Vector: this category mainly includes non-vertebrate vectors of pathogens; search under Cultured species for vertebrate vectors of disease agents.
Growout system: this category includes datasheets with generic information about particular growout production systems. These system reviews will be expanded in future versions of the Compendium
Ecosystem: this category includes datasheets with generic information about particular ecosystems of importance to aquaculture production systems. These system reviews will be expanded in future versions of the Compendium
Issues: these datasheets give an overview of particular issues and many contain overview Key Topic texts as well as providing a navigation point to those issues as they are covered in the Library. These reviews will be expanded in future versions of the Compendium.
Case studies: these case study datasheets are detailed examinations of good practice from around the world.
Taxonomic Group: note that many of these datasheets do not contain much data. They exist in the Compendium so that the Taxonomic Tree structure can operate.
Country: note that the Country category also includes regions, such as Europe.
