Getting Started

This is a suggested route through the Internet version of the Crop Protection Compendium. It may help you to explore its main features, demonstrate them to someone else, and start addressing your own problems in plant health. We suggest you print this document and use it as a guide.

There's also plenty of Help along the way in the Compendium itself, and there's always a Feedback button at the bottom of the screen if you need to ask about anything or make suggestions.

We hope you enjoy it!

Finding the home page

Point your browser to http://www.cabicompendium.org

Click on Crop Protection Compendium and then on Enter, to take you to the home page of the CPC.

On the home page, move the mouse over the buttons on the right of the screen to display information about each feature.

On the left of the screen are buttons to tell you about the CPC project, its history and future, its Development Consortium, and about Fair Use of content.

Finding a datasheet when you know the name

Click the Find-A-Datasheet button (on the right of the screen). Enter your Username and Password and click the Login button.

On the Find-a-Datasheet page type cotton boll in the Search for box. Accept the other default settings and click the Search button.

From the Search Results page click cotton bollworm (Helicoverpa zea) to go to that datasheet cover page.

Exploring a datasheet

On the H. zea cover page click the map on the cover page. Resize the browser window if necessary. Click on a dot to see the published reference for that dot. For further information, try the Click for distribution list link. Try the soil, climate and legend links. Shift view gives a view of the world centred on 180° longitude (Pacific), instead of a view centred around 0° longitude (Greenwich). Try clicking on a region of the map, e.g. South America, to see a regional map.

Click the "Back" button.

Click on the link for the glossary result. The Glossary definition for polyphagous will then display. Close the glossary term window.
